Four respected partners – Barony, Elmwood and Oatridge colleges and SAC merged in October 2012 to become Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC).  From 6 campuses and 23 offices across Scotland SRUC delivers business support, education and training for Scotland’s land-based industries.  SRUC also has 8 farms and research centres across Scotland.  SRUC’s work is founded on world class and sector leading research, education and consultancy.  The integration of these three functions ensures learners, businesses, communities and policy-makers benefit from leading-edge knowledge exchange.

SRUC draws on its accomplished history of more than a century of success in supporting land-based industry and communities.  Strong in heritage, yet stronger still as SRUC the organisation strives to lead the way in delivering economic, social and environmental benefits while providing a strong voice for our rural and related industries.  Through the SAC Consulting Division a wide range of services is provided to individuals, small and medium size enterprises, corporate clients, local and regional authorities, Government agencies and the Scottish Government.

SRUC also delivers the Scottish Government’s Veterinary and Advisory Services Programme.  This programme meets a range of statutory obligations, encourages sustainable growth and helps to create a more competitive and dynamic agricultural sector.  It also contributes to the long term viability of rural communities while maintaining high standards of animal health and welfare and environmental management including delivering activities that contribute to the reduction in Scotland’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
