In a move to meet the demands of the evolving, health-conscious Scottish market, Scotland’s Family Butcher, Malcolm Allan, just launched its Little Bit Lighter range.
Malcolm Allan is a fourth-generation Scottish family business that has been manufacturing quality meat products since 1954. The firm recognises the need to offer a wider range of products to appeal to as many consumers as possible.
The launch range includes two lines; pork link sausages and steak link sausages. Malcolm Allan’s plans are to extend the range with additional products later into 2019, with a view to having a full range of meat products that will appeal to healthy eaters across the country.
The Pork sausages are only 66 calories and the Steak Sausages are only 59 calories per sausage and are significantly lower in fat, salt and sugar. The tray and labelling are all fully recyclable and environmentally friendly.
Speaking of this latest launch, Malcolm Allan Director, Gordon Allan said:
‘’It’s a really exciting move for us as a business and we’re delighted to officially have the products on the shelves for people to pick up and enjoy. By showing the key nutritional information on the front of the pack, there is clear transparency with the customers, and they know exactly what they’re getting - a great-tasting, healthy product that they can love just as much as our other products that they have been so loyal to over the years.’’
This latest innovation from the Larbert-based butchers comes off the back of a very strong period for the brand, seeing them continuing to lead the way in the Scottish fresh sausage market. Malcolm Allan experienced unrivalled growth across 2018, with 52-week volume increasing steadily from around 350 tonnes in December 2017 to around 500 tonnes in December 2018 (Kantar Worldpanel).
Malcolm Allan Little Bit Lighter steak and pork sausages can be purchased from Scottish Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Spar stores. A pack of six sausages can be purchased for £2.50.
