The National Whisky Festival of Scotland is making its way to Aberdeen for the first time ever following popular events in Glasgow, Paisley and Edinburgh.

On Saturday 14 September, Aberdeen Music Hall will play host to this unique Scottish culture and whisky tasting event which has become a popular staple of Glasgow’s Celtic Connections festival and recently debuted at Paisley’s Spree festival.

The NWF is truly a whisky drinker’s paradise, and the debut voyage to Aberdeen is expected to produce one of the most ambitious instalments yet, featuring over 30 exhibitors from some of the most exciting names in the industry, with over 100 different whiskies/expressions available to try - all included in the ticket price.

Following the format of previous festivals, the Aberdeen edition will offer two three-and-a-half hour sessions of unique whisky tastings as well as incredible live music and plenty of delicious, hearty local food to see you right after all those drams!

There will also be the opportunity for visitors to attend one of 12 whisky tasting Masterclasses (six per session - to be booked separately) to help sharpen their knowledge and hone their tasting skills.

Full info on the Masterclasses will be released prior to the event, however, previous classes have included A Taste of Goa, presented by Paul John Indian Single Malt Whisky and a unique tasting lesson from Islay Whisky Academy, run by Rachel MacNeill - founder of the first ever whisky blog for women, Whisky for Girls.

And while all visitors are encouraged to have a wee nip, there is plenty for non-whisky drinkers to enjoy too, including a newly-added craft beer bar and a wide selection of gins, bourbons and other spirits to keep even the most stubborn drinkers happy.

Colin Campbell, one of the founders of NWF said:

“We at the National Whisky Festival of Scotland are hugely excited to be taking our unique celebration of uisge-beatha on the road to visit one of our favourite parts of this beautiful country. After enjoying so much success in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Paisley we thought it was about time to hit the north and give the people of Aberdeen and indeed the surrounding areas (we're looking at you Norway!) an opportunity to celebrate our national drink and indeed, Scottish culture, within the wonderful setting of the recently refurbished Aberdeen Music Hall."

Aberdeen Performing Arts Chief Executive, Janie Spiers, said:

“We are thrilled to be welcoming the National Whisky Festival to Aberdeen for the first time this September. As one of Scotland’s most historic concert venues, the Music Hall will be the perfect setting to raise a glass to our national drink.”
