Scotland’s largest independent co-operative, Scotmid, has scooped two industry accolades at this year’s Scottish Grocer awards; Bakery Retailer and Food to Go Retailer-of-the-year.
The awards, which are a highlight in the Scottish convenience retailing industry’s calendar and were presented by comedian and actor Alexander Armstrong, saw the Bakery Retailer award presented to Scotmid’s Clarkston store and the Food to Go Retailer award going to the Scotmid Ratho Station store.
The Food to Go accolade reflects the Ratho Station store’s extensive and popular range of food items available at ‘The Kitchen’ such as fresh baguettes, breakfast rolls, soup and even burgers.
Over the past four years, there has been an extensive roll-out of Food to Go across Scotmid’s 186-store estate in Scotland and the North of England, providing delicious food at competitive prices, whether customers are looking for a quick bite on the move or an indulgent hot lunch.
The Clarkston store’s award reflects the team’s strong determination to grow sales across their bakery offer to make it a top seller for the store.
Kevin Plant, Head of Food at Scotmid, said:
“Our Food to Go and in-store Bakery is market leading in that it allows our customers to shop fresh products conveniently to fit in with their busy lives. Receiving recognition from one of Scotland’s leading food award ceremonies is testament to the energy, enthusiasm and hard work of our store managers and their teams.
“These are two great accolades to build on that as we head towards our 160-year anniversary later this year.”
