Industry event, ‘Showcasing the Larder of the Lowlands’ is set to return later this month, following a successful inaugural event last year where over 50 producers from across the region presented products to a wider range of buyers from across Scotland and the UK.

The 2024 event will take place at Easterbrook Hall, Dumfries, on 22nd April 2024, and is delivered by Regional Food Groups from Dumfries and Galloway, Lanarkshire, Ayrshire, Arran and East Lothian. The event is sponsored by South of Scotland Destination Alliance (SSDA), Thomsons Food Services and Lochlea Distillery and supported by Scotland Food & Drink.

‘Showcasing the Larder of the Lowlands’ will welcome over 50 suppliers from honey, beer, chocolate, cheese and meat of all varieties through to fish, gin and pickles. Buyers from retail, wholesale, foodservice and tourism are invited and will experience a marketplace style event where they can meet suppliers throughout the day.

Sheena Horner, Regional Food Group Coordinator for Dumfries and Galloway and Ayrshire, said: “We have so many fabulous food and drink producers in the Lowlands, and it is going to be great to see them once again take centre stage in one place. Last year, we received amazing feedback from both the suppliers and buyers, and we’re delighted to be hosting a second edition of the event to build on that success. We can’t wait to shine a light on our fabulous home-grown brands”

‘Showcasing the Larder of the Lowlands’ is part of a series of Sourcing Scotland trade events taking place in 2024 across the country, supported by industry leadership organisation, Scotland Food & Drink. Sourcing Scotland regional events are designed to grow sales of Scottish produce by bringing together buyers and suppliers to do business across the retail, wholesale, hospitality, and independent sectors.

Fiona Richmond, Head of Regional Food at Scotland Food & Drink said: “The Lowlands is home to some of the best quality produce on the market and we are proud to support another event that will celebrate the finest suppliers and manufacturers in the region and deliver crucial opportunities for growth. I am constantly inspired by the individuals across Scotland that give their time to champion our sector and this event is another testament to the passion, creativity and dedication of the producers, regional food groups and ambassadors that have worked hard to elevate the standards of excellence in our industry.”

Emma Bouglet, Regional Food Group Business manager at East Lothian Food and Drink said: “We are delighted with the buyers attending the event and if you are a buyer who wishes to grow their food and drink offering whilst supporting local to come along to Easterbrook Hall on April 22nd, 2024, 10am-3pm. The Lowlands look forward to welcoming you!”
